Adventures in Sushi

Fridays are typically a day that, either out of laziness or some innate desire, I don’t pack a lunch for work. And it then means that I will have to inevitably order something.

I’m a big fan of LionMenus, an online ordering system for Penn State. For months you could count on me hitting up trusty Uncle Chen’s for something or other on any given Friday. But that changed when the delivery guy sorta went a little crazy. Apparently one time when delivering to the building I work at, he got his car towed. (I don’t see how that could possibly happen when making a 5 minute delivery… but I digress.) I guess he made up his mind he’d never walk into my building again after this. A few weeks later the same guy was delivering to me and apparently was trying to call me to tell me to come out into the parking lot to meet him.

Now, I would have done this, I’ve done it before for various delivery guys. But I didn’t happen to have my cell phone in my pocket at the time, and it vibrated noiselessly through his dozen calls. The delivery guy finally came inside and kinda let me have it, saying he called me a ton of times and he was never walking up here again… Now I suppose I’m just not too keen on ordering from those guys again. I’ve seen Waiting.

So today I hit up a new place, Fuji and Jade. I talked to a very close friend for some advice on what to order. You see, I was in the mood for some sushi. I think the first time I had sushi was in Pittsburgh in probably 2000. I was at a hibachi grill and somebody at the tabled ordered some, and I reluctantly tried it. Not bad. But since then I had only had sushi from the little take out trays at Panda Express, or the premade stuff you get at the grocery store. I never actually ordered a specific type. I was overwhelmed with options.

My friend lives in NYC and knows a thing or two about sushi. She recommended the Boston roll, which had lettuce and crab and other stuff in there. It was pretty awesome. And I also had a Philadelphia roll. (In case you are unaware, even though I didn’t grow up in the city of Philadelphia, I was raised on that side of the state, and am pretty much a fan of all things Philly. Would that carry over to sushi? Yes!) It was sushi with a bit of cream cheese in it! Crazy right? But it was pretty good. So who knows, this might become a new thing with me.

apparently i took the red pill

i’ve got my blog all hooked up to a zillion different feeds now…, twitterfeed.. and it’s actually been a challenge to wrap my head around it. if i want to post to my livejournal, i can actually post to my blog and have the feeds take care of it. or i can post directly. or i can go to and let them post. oh so many options. actually it’s just a tad confusing, but i think i’ve got it all worked out.

this is basically me rambling in order to have something to test it out on.

A Trip to the Hospital

Yes I was at the hospital today. No it wasn’t any emergency, just running a test for a problem I had a few months ago. It hadn’t reoccurred, and the test came back clear. But wow this test was an ordeal. Suffice to say, I now hate jello.

I played a bunch of Left4Dead over the past weekend and I must say, this is a must buy game if you’re into cheesy Zombie movies. It’s like they took the psychotic, fast running zombies of 28 Days Later and put them in the environments of a Romero movie. You have to work as a team (which is a challenge when you don’t have 4 humans playing, and have to use computer teammates) as you face insane numbers of zombies. Way fun.

I took off tomorrow and am not sure exactly what I’ll be doing. something relaxing. and jello free.

new blog…

i’ve got a ton of blogs and the like.  so i figured i’d finally combine all the various crap into a more unified site.  so voila.  i’ve used the name scott topic online for several years, ever since my friend Natalie started calling me that on the work schedule when i first worked at hot topic.

so about me..  as of right now i’m 27, living outside of State College where I work at Penn State doing IT Support.  i’m hoping to move this year, at least into State College.

i am into a lot of music, which fluctuates between emo, indie and techno usually.  but i listen to a lot of different music.  you might see me listening to pop or country or classical music on NPR just as often as you’ll find me listening to Thursday and the Get Up Kids.

i’m a gamer, and if i don’t have anything better to do you’ll probably find me on xbox live or on wow.  it’s a good time killer/life killer but it drives me nuts sometimes.

apart from that stuff though i’m mostly just your average geeky guy.  i suppose tech is my art.  hopefully i can showcase some of that stuff here.  for now i’m gonna work on tidying up this blog theme a bit.
